Independence Australia is a social enterprise that provides choices for people with a disability or other personal need, enabling them to regain and retain their independence within an inclusive community.
Our Story
We support people to regain and retain their independence within an inclusive community.
Since beginning our journey in 1957, our services have impacted the lives of thousands of Victorians, and as we’ve evolved into a social enterprise, the stories of the people in our community have become intertwined with our own.
While we are driven by a passion born more than sixty years ago, the positive impact on our community has maintained our drive to continue to make a difference.

Our impact
Our services are vital and holistic, including essentials such as Personal Care, Domestic Assistance, Overnight Care, Meal Preparation and Personal Shopping. We offer crucial NDIS support, right through to inclusive events that open up possibilities for our community.
Several major Independence Australia programs receive limited or no government funding, these include our Psychology and Counselling programs such as the newly developed Grief and Loss Program for people with intellectual disabilities living in residential setting and our Peer Mentoring service supporting the needs of young people living with a disability.
It is only from the generous support in the community for our fundraising and social enterprise businesses, which ensure these crucial services are delivered to those who need our support. To learn more about our impact and how we support this, view our most recent annual report.
